During December, the Bolivian Food Bank (BAB) welcomed María Teresa García Plata, Regional Director for Latin America at The Global FoodBanking Network (GFN), and Luis Manuel García Mendoza, Associate Director of Food System Partnerships for Latin America at GFN, as part of an institutional agenda carried out in the cities of Cochabamba and Santa Cruz.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen cooperation ties between GFN and the Bolivian Food Bank, learn about the operational and strategic work carried out by the BAB, and explore opportunities for collaboration with companies and social actors to expand the impact of food recovery and redistribution to vulnerable populations.
As part of the agenda, GFN representatives visited partner companies, promoting opportunities for dialogue and the exchange of experiences and best practices in coordinating efforts to address food insecurity and reduce food waste. They also toured the facilities of the Bolivian Food Bank, where they learned in detail about the logistics and management processes that underpin its daily work.
The visit by María Teresa García Plata and Luis Manuel García Mendoza reaffirms the joint commitment to continue working strategically to strengthen the capacities of the Bolivian Food Bank, promote partnerships with the private sector, and foster international cooperation practices that contribute to building more supportive, sustainable, and resilient food systems.
